The 80th anniversary of VE Day will be commemorated on 8th May 2025. This significant event marks the end of World War II in Europe and will be remembered through many national events.  It is an opportunity for the nation to honour the sacrifices made during the war and celebrate 80 years of peace. VJ Day will be celebrated on 15th August 2025 to commemorate the end of WWII in the Pacific.

In 2023 the hospital Comms Team received a document from a researcher in The United States that uncovered the names, treatments and everyday life of a working US Army field hospital during WWII.

This exhibition celebrates some of the people who were named as working at the US Army Medical hospital on this site.  Read their words that describe their time here. We have also researched lives after their military careers when they returned home after the war.
