Woven llamas

You will need

  • Cardboard
  • Scissors
  • String, wool, ribbons & scrap fabric
  • Felt pens
  • Sticky tape

 

Instructions

  1. Cut out our template provided
  2. Draw round your template on a sheet of cardboard and cut out your llama – add the 5 small slits top and bottom
  3. Decorate your llama with felt pens
  4. Wind a length of wool or string around your llama
  5. Keeping the front strands straight, stick the ends down with some sticky tape
  6. Begin weaving your ribbon, string. Alternate over then under on the next row go over the string where you went under on the previous row.
  7. Continue until your llama has a woven rug
  8. Finish of the edge with some tassels or pom pom fringe

Other tips and ideas

  • Use different recycled materials for the rug
  • Coloured pipe cleaners work well
